From humble beginnings as a cottage industry producing healing hemp balms from home, Black Sheep Farm Oils has grown into a family-run registered private company operating from its own eco-conscious, solar-powered facility in Murwillumbah, Northern Rivers, NSW, and employing a small local workforce.
The business specialises in natural remedies for health and well-being, working with ingredients such as hemp, essential oils, traditional herbs including comfrey and arnica, and a range of plant-based extracts.
Many of Black Sheep Farm Oils’ products are certified organic, and the company remains committed to keeping prices accessible to ensure those who need their products most can afford them.

BRAND IDENTITY
Crafting the Brand Mark
Although Black Sheep Farm Oils had been trading for several years—selling essential oils, hemp products and balms both online and through local retailers—the brand did not yet have a formal logo.
The brief was to develop a distinctive mark that captured the Black Sheep identity while also referencing the Calendula flower, a key ingredient used across the product range.
The logo needed to retain the handcrafted, cottage-industry feel of the brand, while presenting a professional, versatile identity that could be applied consistently across product labels, the website, social media, merchandise, stationery, uniforms and vehicles.
WEB DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
WordPress & WooCommerce Build
The Black Sheep Farm Oils website was previously built on an outdated Weebly template. It did not showcase the full product range, had limited SEO performance and was not optimised for mobile use.
We designed and developed a new website using WordPress and WooCommerce, delivering a fully responsive, user-friendly platform. The complete product catalogue was structured into clear categories with detailed descriptions and improved product imagery. We also created bespoke iconography, streamlined the checkout experience and implemented comprehensive SEO improvements to support ongoing online growth.
PRODUCT LABELS
Product Label Design & Refresh
With the introduction of the new brand identity came the need for updated product labels. While Mac already had a suite of beautifully hand-drawn labels for the essential oils range, the Hemp Oils and Creams lacked a cohesive visual treatment.
Drawing inspiration from the existing essential oils labels and maintaining the handcrafted, cottage-industry feel, we designed new labels for the Hemp Oils, Balms & Creams, and Dogs & Pets ranges. We also refreshed the Aromatherapy labels to incorporate the new brand elements and ensure consistency across the full product suite.
All label files were supplied in fully editable formats, enabling Mac’s team to easily update and manage the artwork in-house as the range evolves.
